How are big trees measured?

The relative size of a tree is determined by the total number of points earned on the basis of three measurements:

CIRCUMFERENCE
or Girth in
INCHES
HEIGHT
in
FEET
CROWN SPREAD
in
FEET

CIRCUMFERENCE or GIRTH is measured at 4 1/2 feet above the ground at mid-slope. Circumference inches = circumference points.

The HEIGHT of the tree in feet = height points.

CROWN SPREAD in feet / 4 = crown points.
